The money will fund scholarships of children of frontline workers whose lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sometime later, Grande chimed in the tweet saying "see u there everybody 🖤" the next day, the artists took to their social media to announce the release of their song on May 8, 2020.
On April 30, 2020, Bieber tweeted "Special announcement tomorrow at 10 am pst. “Within the week, Ariana was sending us edits.” It was Ariana's idea to put a male singer on the record and she sent it over to Justin. A positive message to make people feel uplifted, not to mention donating to charity to really make it even bigger than the song itself and so meaningful during such a crazy moment in time. Scooter wanted to bring people together with a song about what’s going on in the world. Scooter Braun and Stonestreet had been talking about a song that reflected this time, Skyler thought, this is it. He said, “You know, if I have to be stuck with someone, I’m glad I’m stuck with you.” It was inspired by an argument Wexler had that morning with his wife.
Freddy was really instrumental in getting this song placed as well and was a champion from day one of writing it. Skyler Stonestreet got to be a part of a Zoom writing session with Whitney Phillips, Freddy Wexler and Gian Stone and wrote the initial version of “Stuck With U” on April 3.
